The Westmont Village Board adopted the January 1–December 31, 2026 appropriations ordinance at its March 19 meeting. Director Oltek told trustees the ordinance totals $189,967,439, which includes other entities such as the police and fire pension funds and the Westmont Library; the village's share is $179,487,230.
Oltek said the appropriations ordinance is statutorily required each March and provides administrative flexibility to respond to unforeseen needs during the fiscal year (for example, property acquisitions or weather-related calamities) without circumventing existing purchasing controls and contract approvals.
Trustee Little moved the adoption; Trustee Plowman seconded. The board approved the ordinance by roll call with all present trustees voting yes.
Staff noted that specific purchases and contracts over established thresholds will still require separate board review and that the appropriations ordinance does not replace those controls.
