Trenton accepts arts and cybersecurity grants totaling $84,772

At its March 23 meeting, Trenton’s City Council accepted two grants that city staff said will fund cultural programming and cybersecurity upgrades.
DDA Director Miss Pusino told council the city was awarded a Michigan Arts and Cultural Council grant for $6,400 to support mural projection mapping at the 2026 Trenton Art Festival, with light shows planned for six to eight murals. “The city of Trenton was awarded a grant from the Michigan Arts and Cultural Council for $6,400 for the mural projection mapping at the 2026 Trenton Art Festival,” she said. Council voted to accept the grant and place the agreement into a state grants revenue account.
Human resources director Miss Perry presented a separate state and local cybersecurity grant (FY2024) for $78,372 that will fund implementation of multifactor authentication and migration of the city’s web domain from .com to .gov. Miss Perry said the grant runs from January 2026 through Sept. 30, 2028; council accepted and authorized execution of the agreement.
Why it matters: The arts grant aims to enhance downtown programming during the Trenton Art Festival; the cybersecurity grant funds specific IT security measures city staff say are needed to protect municipal systems and to align with best practices. Both actions were approved unanimously and will be recorded in the city’s grant accounting.
