Del Webb Sun Cities Museum offers digital scrapbooking classes to preserve club history

Barb Wengers, board trustee and head of preservation for the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum, told the Chartered Clubs Committee she and her team have digitized thousands of pages of local club history and are offering a short course to teach clubs how to preserve photos and documents in a digital scrapbook.
Wengers said her team has digitized more than 26,000 pages and 186 scrapbooks dating from about 1959 to 2015, and she invited Sun City West clubs to attend classes in March/April and in November. “My name is Barb Wengers, and on behalf of the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum, we would like to invite every club to attend a class to learn how to preserve your history going forward,” she said.
Wengers described class logistics: four days of two‑hour sessions with built‑in work time, a laptop with Microsoft Word, and 10 photos to begin. She said two people per club may attend and that documents can be scanned at the museum. Wengers offered to bring the class to Sun City West if clubs prefer and said she will share signup details via email (her contact is the Del Webb Sun Cities Area Historical Society address she provided).
During Q&A Nancy asked whether museum materials would be connected to the Sun City West website; Wengers said digitized Sun City West scrapbooks are available on the museum site and the museum can coordinate access and future class dates.
