Dodge County board approves $1.23 million in claims, tables valuation-referee agreement for pre-season review

At the Board of Equalization meeting, the Board tabled approval of a referee agreement and the solicitation letter used to recruit valuation-protest referees. County Attorney Hopkins recommended that the county require prospective referees to attend a pre-season meeting so officials can communicate expectations; the solicitation letter will be amended to include that requirement and reviewed by County Assessor Marshall before the item returns to the April 29 agenda.
Other business on the agenda included receipt of correspondence and documents: a quarterly billing and reimbursement notice from Nebraska State Probation (Sixth Probation District), a request from Eastern Nebraska Human Services Agency for $90,324 for ENOA, a public notice for the Dodge County Local Emergency Planning Committee meeting on April 27 at the Scribner Volunteer Fire Department, and a Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District membership request for $930 (referred to the Finance Committee).
