Discover Gila County presented its draft five‑year marketing and strategic plan to the Board of Supervisors, summarizing results since 2018 and projected next steps.
Presentation highlights included cumulative website traffic in the hundreds of thousands of visitors, social‑media followings of tens of thousands, video and TV ad placements that reached millions of viewers, and awards for rural marketing and website performance. "We're seeing a really steep incline... and 81% of the traffic from Google," a Discover Gila County presenter said, summarizing digital strategy and search performance.
Presenters framed tourism investment in economic terms using Arizona Office of Tourism figures: $37.8 million in direct travel spending in 2024, $19 million in new spending added that year, and thousands of jobs directly supported. They argued the program reduces local tax burdens by generating visitor spending and supporting local businesses.
Supervisors commended the work and asked for a formal agenda item to adopt the plan. Chairman Christiansen and Manager Manlove joined supervisors in praising the program’s measurable returns and recommended returning the plan for formal board action.
Presenters said the next step is to place the plan on a future agenda for formal approval and to continue performance tracking and community engagement across towns and tribal partners.
