Flagler Beach officials approve two Farmers Market date exceptions to partner with local events

Jim Kelling, who runs the Farmers Market for Flagler Strong, told commissioners the proposals would synchronize vendors and foot traffic between the market and each event and that vendor fees for the two dates would be donated to the partner organizations.
Commissioners expressed concerns about extended street closures, impacts on local businesses and the potential safety effects of road closures that overlap with event foot traffic. Staff and the applicant said extra parking will be made available at no charge via a private lot owner for those dates; staff also recommended a hard stop at 5:00 p.m. to avoid conflicts with dinner-time traffic. The commission approved the limited exceptions with conditions to memorialize the revised road-closure footprint and to have staff coordinate parking, barricades and any required signage and labor. The motion carried unanimously.
