Dawson County commissioners approve claims, appoint visitor committee member and OK keno outlet

The County Board of Commissioners of Dawson County, Nebraska, on April 15 approved claims totaling $374,735.82 and accepted Treasurer’s receipts of $8,808,750.05. The board carried several routine administrative motions by recorded votes: approval of the April 1 minutes, filing officials’ receipts, approving treasurer receipts and approving claims. Each motion that recorded a roll call passed with aye votes from Commissioners Rod Reynolds, Joe Richeson, Kevin Swanson and Chairman PJ Jacobson.
The board also approved a personnel and appointments slate. County Clerk Michaela Arndt introduced new employee Canda Montgomery. The board accepted Cozad Tourism’s recommendation to appoint Kevin Kelsey to the Dawson County Visitors Committee to replace Jordan Starman; the motion (made by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Richeson) passed unanimously among members present.
Separately, the board approved Nautical Rose, LLC, dba Nautical Rose, as a lottery sales outlet for the Dawson County component of the NCG joint keno lottery. Shawn Engberg requested the approval; the motion (Commissioner Rod Reynolds, seconded by Commissioner Kevin Swanson) carried with unanimous recorded ayes.
