Smithfield committee authorizes ISE reprogramming for RIDE Stage 2, approves related Colliers and SLAM invoices

The Smithfield School Committee on Nov. 6 authorized adding an ISE (Inclusive Special Education) reprogramming education program for the middle school to its RIDE Stage 2 application and approved several vendor invoices tied to the project.
Representatives from Colliers Project Leaders presented the committee with a more detailed educational program narrative prepared by the architect and asked the committee to approve submitting that material to RIDE for Stage 2 consideration. "I'm Patrick with Colliers Project Leaders," the Colliers representative said, and described the proposal as reprogramming middle-school space to better center ISE classrooms and update the area for instructional use. Committee member (mover) put the authorization to a motion, it was seconded, and the chair called the ayes.
The committee also approved Colliers invoices previously vetted by the school building committee: one not to exceed $31,672.80 and another not to exceed $15,011 for work performed while compiling Stage 2 materials. The committee approved two SLAM invoices: a closeout administration invoice of $354.50 and a Stage 2 invoice not to exceed $30,750, which Colliers said brings that line item to roughly 90% complete and will leave the remaining 10% to be billed after responses to RIDE's comments.
Debra Bates of Colliers noted the team submitted materials in September and had received requests for clarifications from RIDE; the paperwork approved by the committee is intended to address those requests and move the application forward. "So this is the middle school as a reprogramming space," Patrick said, describing the goal of locating ISE spaces more centrally to classroom bays.
Next steps: Colliers and the architect will submit the clarified Stage 2 materials to RIDE and respond to any additional questions; SLAM will invoice for remaining work when RIDE is satisfied. The motions to authorize submission and to approve the vendor invoices were made and seconded on the record and carried by voice vote.
