The Erie Redevelopment Authority voted to award its vacant‑lot mowing and maintenance contract to Yard Masters of PA, approving a one‑year contract at $45 per lot with options to renew for up to five years.
Aaron explained the RFP process and said Yard Masters proposed a collaborative approach using a subcontractor (Perfect Cuts) and Yard Masters’ tracking system to provide real‑time updates and photos of mowing conditions, which staff said reduces administrative burden. "Yard Masters of PA was chosen at $45 per lot because of their collaborative proposal ... and the use of their system to track and provide us real time updates," Aaron said.
Board members noted the per‑lot cost rose from $35 last year to $45 but accepted the increase given potential staff time savings and improved invoice validation. The RFP included pricing for more aggressive parcel remediation and allowed escalation for properties requiring extra work.
The board moved and approved Resolution 6‑2026 by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Staff said the contract is expected to reduce administrative time chasing service validation and provide more consistent lot maintenance across the city’s portfolio of vacant parcels.
Next steps: staff will finalize the agreement and begin implementation of mowing schedules and the Yard Masters tracking system.
