At its Feb. 16 meeting the Ionia Public Schools Board of Education voted to enter a closed session for the superintendent’s mid-year evaluation under the Michigan Open Meetings Act (OMA) Section 8a.
Secretary Marhofer moved to enter closed session for the superintendent evaluation and Trustee Shippey supported the motion; roll call recorded seven ayes and the motion carried 7-0. Minutes show the board returned to open session at 8:33 p.m. after the closed session. The meeting was adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
The minutes record the motion to enter closed session and the roll-call vote; they do not include the content or outcome of the evaluation, consistent with the closed-session nature of such personnel evaluations under OMA Section 8a.
