Planning commission approves temporary manufactured home permit in Clear Lake Township

The Sherburne County Planning Advisory Commission voted to approve an interim use permit allowing a manufactured home to be placed at 10022 87th Street in Clear Lake Township to house a family member in need of assistance. Staff said the home will use an existing well, a new septic system design was provided, and Clear Lake Township recommended approval.

Todd Sengelis, the applicant who said he has lived at the address for 48 years, told the commission he is aware of and can abide by the five conditions staff recommended. Planning staff told the commission they had received a physician’s letter from CentraCare supporting the request. The commission recited findings of fact — including that the proposed placement meets setback requirements and will not injure neighboring property values — and approved the permit by consensus.

The approval was phrased as an interim use rather than as a permanent accessory dwelling; staff said the permit’s conditions and site-specific requirements are intended to limit impacts to surrounding properties. The commission closed the public hearing before the vote and recorded no public opposition at the meeting.

The action will be transmitted to the Sherburne County Board of Commissioners as part of the commission’s recommendation packet.
