The WALAC committee approved two sets of meeting minutes and adjourned after a closed-session review of the executive director's goals in which no formal action was taken.
The committee opened by taking roll and establishing quorum; several commissioners were marked absent. Mariani, a staff member, explained public comment procedures and said, "It does not look like we have any public comment on Zoom, and we do not have any public comment in the room either." After public comment closed, Commissioner Marv Southard moved to approve the Oct. 2, 2025 meeting minutes; the motion was seconded and the committee conducted a roll-call vote that the record shows as passing. Southard moved a second time to approve the Dec. 9, 2025 minutes; that motion was seconded and passed by roll call with one recorded abstention by Commissioner Roulette.
The meeting then recessed into closed session. As read into the record by the presiding speaker, the committee went into closed session "to consider personal matters pursuant to subdivision (a) of Government Code section 11126 as it relates to the executive director's goals and performance evaluation." When the committee returned to public session, the meeting chair reported plainly, "No action was taken during the closed session." The meeting concluded with thanks to participants and adjournment.
Votes at a glance: - Approval of Oct. 2, 2025 minutes — Motion moved by Commissioner Marv Southard; seconded; roll-call vote recorded in the meeting record as passing. - Approval of Dec. 9, 2025 minutes — Motion moved by Commissioner Marv Southard; seconded; roll-call vote recorded in the meeting record as passing with one abstention (Commissioner Roulette).
The meeting record shows no public commenters and notes that the closed session produced no board action. The committee adjourned after the report out.
