Master-plan events and Torch committee meeting urged as clubs seek more outreach

Committee members spent part of the Feb. 3 meeting reviewing outreach opportunities tied to the community master plan and local volunteer programming.
The general manager described the master plan as a 10-to-15-year planning horizon and asked residents to use the online portal (masterplan.suncitywest.com) to submit ideas, use the budgeting tool and drop pins on the map. “These events… the consultants have been doing a fantastic job,” the general manager said, urging residents to attend drop-in sessions scheduled through February and to use the ideas board.
Several members raised concerns about Torch, a volunteer orientation and leadership program, after the governing board announced a February session had been canceled for low enrollment. Pat Conway and others suggested committee help with outreach and marketing to boost participation; Governing Board President Christina Vella said the Torch committee will meet Monday the 9th to consider marketing and program improvements.
The committee encouraged residents to engage via posted events and the online tools; staff said consultants will compile input and present a draft plan for the governing board to consider this fall.
