The Mercer County Planning Commission voted unanimously April 17 to approve Zoning Case 25‑04‑01, allowing Allan and Shana Gerving to build a non‑farm residence on an approximately 3‑acre parcel about 13 miles north and 1 mile east of Beulah.
Mike Eslinger, chairman of the Mercer County Planning Commission, opened the hearing on the application and reminded the applicants of the commission’s two‑year rule for starting authorized construction. The parcel is described in the minutes as Tract B in E2NE4 of Section 16, T146N R87W, of the Fifth Principal Meridian. The applicants told the commission there will be room for a bus turnaround and that they hope to get power extended to the site soon but are unsure when building will begin.
Shane Cole moved to approve the conditional use and Jen Neumiller seconded. The minutes record that “all members present voted ‘aye’,” and the motion passed. Members recorded as present were Casey Voigt, Mike Eslinger, Kevin Hafner, Shane Cole, Chris Renner and Jen Neumiller.
Eslinger said he would consult the County Road Superintendent about the approach to the property; the minutes note the access is already established off State Highway 1806. The minutes do not specify conditions attached to the approval beyond the usual permitting and the two‑year start reminder.
The commission also approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of its Feb. 20, 2025 meeting earlier in the session. The meeting opened at 6:58 p.m. and adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
