The Ringgold County Board of Supervisors adopted the county’s FY27 budget during a public hearing and regular session on April 13, approving budgeted expenditures of $11,831,207 and a total levy rate of 10.25538.
Chair Colby Holmes opened the public hearing at 10:00 a.m.; Auditor Amanda Waske, Assessor Melinda England, County Engineer Jared Johnson and ISAC Executive Director Andrea Woodward were present. Holmes reviewed the budget process and the proposed spending plan, and the Board acknowledged a written objection submitted by Kevin Kilgore. "Public input is an important part of this process and is taken seriously," Holmes said. The hearing closed at 10:13 a.m., and the Board moved to adopt the budget as published.
The Board also approved several resolutions tied to the FY27 budget. Resolution RC26-59 set FY27 salaries for elected officials; RC26-60 approved a 3% pay increase for non-elected officials; and RC26-61 authorized a FY27 transfer of $1,080,363 from Rural Basic to Secondary Roads. The Board approved RC26-62, which allocates funding to local organizations (see “Votes at a glance” below), and RC26-63 adopting the final levy rate. The Board recorded unanimous "ayes" on the motions.
The Board approved appropriating 100% of the proposed budget and enacted RC26-65 (FY27 appropriations). It set the hourly wage for precinct election officials at $10, effective July 1, 2026 (RC26-66), and approved claims to be paid April 15 (RC26-67).
Why it matters: The adopted budget and related resolutions set the county’s tax levy and funding priorities for the coming fiscal year, including personnel costs, roads funding, and support for local service providers.
