West Jefferson board appoints David Miller, approves slate of contracts, grants and policy changes

At its Feb. 2 meeting the West Jefferson Board of Aldermen appointed David Miller to fill an unexpired term and unanimously approved multiple routine items, including project awards to Municipal Engineering and BREC, a budget amendment, grant applications and a revised holiday policy.
The Town of West Jefferson Board of Aldermen appointed David Miller to fill an aldermanic seat expiring in December 2027 and approved a bundle of routine measures at its Feb. 2 regular meeting.
Alderman Blanco moved to appoint David Miller, Alderman Calvin Green seconded, and the motion passed as recorded. Clerk of Superior Court Sherman Lee administered the oath to David Miller, who took the seat immediately.
The board also awarded the EDA IDF project to Municipal Engineering and selected BREC to develop a park master plan, actions the board said will position the town for future funding. Both awards passed by unanimous votes. The board approved Budget Amendment No. 3 as presented and adopted a resolution required to pursue the Small Business Infrastructure Grant program.
The board authorized application and related resolutions for SRF Helene grant funds to support a proposed water tank project and sewer lining. Council members approved a personnel policy amendment to add three Christmas holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and a third day to be designated by the board) and confirmed a planning board appointment of Jeren Holman.
