Council members raised concerns about inconsistent park hours shown online and on-site signage and asked the park board to review hours and posting practices.
Commune Director Raymond said the park board — established by citizen vote in November 1918 — holds authority to set rules and hours, and that council primarily provides appropriations. Council members noted some parks are listed as open 24 hours online while signs show dusk-to-dawn, creating public confusion. Council asked staff to coordinate with the park board to post clear hours at parks and to correct online listings, including Google entries.
Raymond said he would add the matter to the park board’s October agenda and noted the board’s October 7 park walk-through; staff also suggested improved signage at parks lacking visible notices. Council emphasized that routine pedestrian use is not the enforcement target but that consistent posted hours give officers better tools to address delinquent nighttime behavior if needed.
