The MSAD 51 Board of Directors unanimously approved the superintendent’s nomination of Dr. Cece Poe as principal of Greeley Middle School (grades 6–8), effective July 1, 2026.
Superintendent Jeff described the search process: the district received 15 applicants, invited five candidates for interviews and convened a 19‑member panel that included staff, two administrators, two parents, a student and a board member. The superintendent said the committee conducted two rounds of interviews before recommending Dr. Poe.
The superintendent summarized Dr. Poe's experience: head of school at the Baxter School for Technology and Science in Portland since 2020, prior assistant‑principal and teaching roles, and leadership experience in science education. Board discussion included one member's question about recusal for personal acquaintances; the superintendent advised recusal is a personal decision but not required automatically, and the member chose not to abstain. The vote to appoint Dr. Poe was unanimous.
Dr. Poe will replace the departing principal, Mani Selby, and the district said it is confident her leadership and prior experience will help during the upcoming transition.
