Summary
Titusville voted to continue participation in Brevard County’s regional wastewater treatment feasibility study with Space Florida and the Air Force; council asked for regular updates because regional options could affect local costs and operations.
The City of Titusville authorized continued participation April 14 in a Brevard County‑led feasibility study evaluating a regional wastewater treatment approach. The county’s representative told the council Space Florida and the Air Force are also participating and described the meetings as conceptual and sometimes held on federal property.
Members raised questions about potential cost and siting implications. Member Moscoso and others asked whether meetings would be open to the public; the county representative said some technical meetings occur on federal property and require clearance, but pledged milestone updates and promised to keep Titusville informed.
Member Nelson moved to authorize continued city participation as a stakeholder, noting the city was not being asked to commit funds at this stage. The motion passed unanimously. Council members emphasized that any substantive cost or siting decisions would return to the council for authorization.
Several public commenters urged prompt regional coordination and suggested alternatives such as siting facilities near Space Center infrastructure; speakers also raised concerns about possible effects on potable water and environmental impacts.
