Town manager updates council on staffing, roadwork, police activity and community events

Christy said she completed director evaluations and is moving forward with supervisor reviews to be completed by June 1. Recruitment is underway for a public works director (three applicants) and a community development director (one applicant); interviews for an administrative finance clerk were scheduled and several applicants were noted.
On public works, Christy said the Teeterages Road project finished at about $22,000 — well below the $50,000 budget ceiling — and crews will begin pothole patching around Pinetop and Lakeside. Christy credited four streets crews for the rapid completion.
Christy also reviewed community services and events: the Rotary-prepared Easter event served more than 500 meals at the Lakeside Gym; the library’s friends logged 81 volunteer hours and donated 270 materials; summer library programming and a May 4 Star Wars-themed event were announced.
On public safety, Christy reported March totals for the town: 616 total incidents, with 304 calls for service and 312 officer-initiated incidents; 33 arrests (five felonies, 28 misdemeanors), 52 citations issued, and no deaths. She also announced the arrival of gel cell doors for the police facility, with installation scheduled ahead of a May 13 ribbon-cutting.
Christy reminded the council of a council-vacancy interview process scheduled for April 21 at 6 p.m. and invited public participation in a mayor's youth advisory committee-organized cemetery cleanup at Lakeside Cemetery the next morning.
She closed by thanking staff for cross-departmental support during the town’s recent transition. Mayor thanked Christy and the meeting proceeded.
