Board approves $6.32M in bills and payroll, Clerk report and routine minutes; moves May meeting dates

At its April 9 meeting the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine consent items including authorization to draw warrants for Invoice Edit Reports and payroll batches totaling $6,323,662.27.
Commissioner Garber moved and Commissioner Johnson seconded the motion to approve the bills and payroll; the motion carried on a roll-call vote listing Commissioners Holzhausen, Johnson, Garber, Howard, Shepard, Haley and Chairman Brodeur as voting yea (7-0). The approved payments include multiple invoice edit reports dated March 13—6 through April 4, 2025 and payroll batches dated March 14 and March 28, 2025.
The board also accepted the County Clerk's 2024 year-end report and authorized renewal of the BSB Communications, Inc. phone system contract, not to exceed $6,648.19. Minutes from the April 7 Economic & Physical Development Committee, April 7 Finance & Administration Committee, and April 8 Public Safety & Courts Committee meetings were approved. The board voted to move May Board of Commissioners meetings to the week of May 19—6 through May 21, 2025.
Chairman Brodeur and County Administrator Dr. Boggs gave brief administrative updates, including reminders about departmental request routing, MSHDA grant applications and an ongoing audit. Two public commenters were noted in the minutes: Gary Helfmann of Sciota Township (taxes) and Tom Manke of Owosso (K-9 program funding and later comments on Owosso's water system). The meeting adjourned at 5:48 p.m.
