Beardstown council approves skid steer lease, $3,000 fireworks contribution and fire‑department washer

The Beardstown City Council on June 4 approved three municipal expenditures and wrapped routine business before adjourning.
A motion by Alderperson Lisa Buhlig, seconded by Alderperson Keith Schramm, approved the lease/purchase of a 2024 John Deere 331G skid steer from Martin Equipment for $34,948.00. The motion passed by a 6–0 roll call vote with Alderpersons Buhlig, Culves, Davis, Harbin, Schramm and Taylor recorded as voting yea; Chris Baer and Dawn Seward were absent.
The council also approved a $3,000 contribution to the Elks Fireworks Fund on a motion by Alderperson Ron Culves, seconded by Alderperson Eric Harbin; that motion likewise passed 6–0 by roll call.
Separately, Alderperson Keith Schramm moved, seconded by Alderperson Mary Davis, to purchase a Groves washer for the Fire Department from Dinges Fire for $5,222.00; the motion passed 6–0 by roll call vote.
Minutes from the May 21 meeting were approved earlier in the session and the consent agenda was adopted under the omnibus designation. With no further business, the council adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
