Commission approves appropriations, travel requests and recesses to executive session on potential litigation

The Montgomery County Commission approved a slate of budgetary and administrative items and then recessed to an executive session to discuss potential litigation.

The commission moved and unanimously approved miscellaneous appropriations to county agencies and education and appropriations from designated revenue. Members also approved a list of travel and training requests spanning multiple departments, including Community Corrections, Engineering, Public Affairs, the Sheriff’s Office and the Youth Facility. County Attorney Michael Armistead presented a written letter stating he had been consulted on matters that, in his legal opinion, made an executive session appropriate under the Alabama Open Meetings Law to discuss potential litigation. The commission recessed the formal session to an executive session and then adjourned the Jan. 28 meeting at 11:00 a.m.
