The Citizens Public Safety Review and Appeal Board voted April 14 to relocate its monthly meetings to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety(KDPS) facility at 150 East Crosstown once the space and technology are ready.
Assistant Chief Victor Green, who briefed the board on the renovated building, said the second-floor community room could hold "a couple hundred people" and that the site would support live streaming and phone-in commenters. "We're thinking by August [our] meeting we can be ready for the move," he said.
Board members asked about parking, public-access space and whether the Crosstown room could host out-of-session conversations; KDPS staff said the facility offers easier parking and that the board would be invited to tour the space as construction finishes. The board passed a motion to approve moving monthly meetings to the Crosstown Parkway facility "once available," with the chair calling for the vote and the board responding by voice.
The chair said the board would keep meeting dates posted and would announce when the space is ready for relocation. The board also noted existing City Chambers community space would remain an option for informal meetings.
The board's next regular meetings are scheduled for May 12 and June 9, 2026; officials said the Crosstown move would occur after KDPS completes moving other departments and confirms streaming and phone-in capability.
