Following a budget workshop on Aug. 23 and a public hearing on Sept. 13, 2022, the Greeley County Board of Commissioners adopted the county’s 2022–2023 operating budget and set the final property tax request.
The board reported a proposed operating budget of $7,540,234 and set a property tax request of $2,336,965, representing approximately a 4% decrease in the county tax rate compared with the previous year. Commissioners said they worked with Mueller & Honcik, PC and county officials to identify savings while preserving services.
During the statutory public hearing there was no formal opposition recorded. The board also adopted levy allocations for villages, school districts, fire districts and other taxing entities as required by statute and published the rates in the official record.
Why it matters: The budget and tax request determine county-level services, capital projects including bridges and road maintenance, and the local property-tax burden for residents.
Next steps: The board directed the County Clerk and Treasurer to publish the adopted budget, and county finance staff to implement the appropriations and monitor expenditures for the fiscal year.
