Vicki Goodrich submitted a letter of retirement as Greeley County treasurer effective Feb. 1, 2021, the county board recorded at its Jan. 12 meeting and formally accepted on Jan. 26, 2021. The board thanked Goodrich for 30 years of service.
After advertising the vacancy and interviewing two candidates, the board appointed Mary McGuire as interim county treasurer and later voted to fill the remainder of the term with McGuire. The appointment was made by roll call vote and the board directed the clerk to advertise and complete the formal appointment process as required.
The county clerk presented routine monthly financial reports and pledged collateral listings during the same meetings; the board authorized the county treasurer to manage idle funds and approved a list of official depositories for 2021.
The board’s actions followed statutory steps for county officer vacancies: accepting a retirement notice, advertising the vacancy, interviewing candidates and voting to fill the unexpired term. No contested claims or appeals of the appointment were recorded in the minutes. The board also approved routine payroll, vendor claims and other administrative business in the same sessions.
Next steps: McGuire will serve as treasurer for the remainder of the term per the board’s vote and the county clerk will complete the required appointment paperwork.
