Yupu board approves 10-year contract with Business Network team after single-bid process

The City of Yupu Board of Control voted to approve a 10-year contract with Business Network team after a procurement process that produced only one responsive bid.

Director Stevens, speaking to the board, said the administration received a letter from Crystal Bridal, assistant to the mayor and lead on the project, reporting that a February 9 bid opening yielded a single response from Business Network team. Stevens said FEMA rules required republication of the solicitation two weeks later; the republication again produced only the Business Network team bid. "They have worked with the city satisfactorily in the past. They've been in existence for 20 years," Stevens said, and recommended the board approve the 10-year proposal.

Stevens also noted there had been a question at the initial opening about whether a bid bond was required, and that she reviewed the bid materials in light of that question. Following Stevens's recommendation, the board took a motion from Director Broganmeyer, seconded by Director Sage, to approve the contract; the motion passed on a voice vote.
