Captain Hauser presented the list and asked the commission to certify it. "First order of business... is the list for the upcoming police new hires. We'd ask you to certify that," the captain said. Commissioners noted a correction to the entry for applicant William Lee and moved to certify the list effective Feb. 17, 2026; the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioners also received an update on the promotional process for police captain (and, later in the year, chief). Captain Hauser said the department plans to follow the process used for sergeant and lieutenant promotions and recommended using Clancy & Associates to administer the examinations. He identified two testing dates: May 14 for the written exam and June 22 for the leadership assessment. "They don't see any reason to make a change to go to another testing company at this point," the captain said.
Chief Womack said the fire department will present a regional participation agreement for the Eastern Cuyahoga County firefighter medic exam for action at the next meeting; that agreement, the chief said, typically costs about $500 and has expanded the candidate pool in prior years.
The commission adjourned after recording the votes and noting upcoming items to return on the next agenda.
