Zach Cooper, representing the applicant, said the design complements nearby architecture and that the building’s landscape and floor plans meet city standards. “I think it's a kind of nice addition to the area,” Cooper said.
Commissioners asked questions about grading, maximum height (about 32 feet at the peak), and whether the upstairs units would be apartments for rent; staff and the applicant confirmed the residences are rental apartments and that grading will step down toward Redwood Road. Commissioner Rather moved to forward a recommendation for approval with the findings and conditions in the staff report; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
The commission noted the project complies with the regional commercial standards and praised the developer’s 3‑D renderings. The item will be forwarded to the City Council with the commission’s recommendation to approve.
