Marion County sets April 21 budget hearing, approves consent items and liquor/event permits

The Marion County Board of Supervisors at its March 24 session approved routine business items and scheduled a key budget hearing.
By unanimous motion the board approved the posted agenda and the consent agenda, which included Marion County warrants through 3/24/2026 and regular meeting minutes from March 10. The board approved a conflict waiver request related to real estate matters with Ahlers & Cooney, P.C.; approved a special event application for the Knoxville Draggins Car Club (Sept. 13, 2026) noting there would be no courthouse bathroom availability for the event; and approved renewal of a Class C retail alcohol license with outdoor service and catering for KLN Entertainment LLC dba Slideways at 1230 Hwy 14 in Knoxville.
The board also approved Resolution 2026-44 to set a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2026–2027 county budget for April 21, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at the Marion County North Annex and directed the county auditor to publish the hearing notice and make the proposed budget available for public inspection. All motions at the meeting passed unanimously (Ayes: McCombs, Jahner, Mueller).
During board updates, Supervisor Mueller noted county campgrounds will open soon, Supervisor McCombs referenced HIRTA, and Chair Jahner said compensation policies were moved to a future meeting. The board adjourned at 9:49 a.m.
