Commissioners briefed on fair bylaws, rate schedule updates and facility rental requests at short study session

Event Center Director Kady Porterfield used a March 30 study session to brief Kittitas County commissioners on a slate of upcoming items the Event Center staff will bring forward in coming months, including Fair Board bylaw amendments, Fire Camp and Emergency Services rate schedule updates and revisions to the county's 309 Fund structure.
Porterfield said the City LTAC Committee toured the grandstands project last week and conveyed appreciation and enthusiasm for the work. She told commissioners the Fair received a Department of Agriculture allocation amount that came in "about $16,000 over budget," and that staff are working to accommodate a request from the Cascade Cow Cutters to rent Bloom Pavilion for one show this year under a new structure that fits current staff resources.
Porterfield also reported that the Kittitas Valley Home and Garden Show returned this year and that feedback was largely positive. She did not present formal proposals or seek votes during the study session; rather, she said staff would bring specific items (bylaw amendments, rate schedule changes, fund structure updates and rental agreements) to future commissioner meetings for consideration.
No public comments were recorded during the session. The study session lasted roughly eight minutes and adjourned at 10:08 a.m.
