San Francisco ' Mayor Daniel Lurie told the Board of Supervisors on Jan. 13 that Vanderbilt University has selected San Francisco for a full-time academic campus beginning in 2027, a move he said will bring students, faculty and research activity into the city's downtown core and bolster long-term economic activity.
Lurie said the decision was the result of multi-institution engagement and said Vanderbilt aligned with the city's values and ambitions. "Vanderbilt's choice sends a clear message. San Francisco remains a world-class place to live, learn and innovate," the mayor said.
