Police Accountability Board elects Derek Griffin as vice chair, approves minutes and votes to enter closed session

At its Jan. 12 meeting the Dutchess County Police Accountability Board took routine administrative actions before moving into closed session.
The board approved the open-session minutes from Oct. 6 and Dec. 18, 2025, after a motion and second; the results were recorded by voice vote with no opposing ayes noted. A committee member moved to accept the minutes and the chair seconded; the chair called for aye votes and the motion passed.
The panel then held a secret ballot election for a one-year vice-chair term. The chair nominated Derek Griffin. The clerk read the ballots aloud as they were tallied; the counted ballots read “Derek Griffin” and board members accepted his willingness to serve another year.
Finally, the chair moved the board into closed session pursuant to Maryland Code §3-305(b)(1) and (13) to discuss personnel matters and related exceptions; the motion passed on a voice vote and the board took up administrative business in closed session. A written statement of the closing was noted as available on request. After the closed-session motion the board adjourned; no public comments were recorded.
