Buchanan County plans harm-reduction vending machine to dispense Narcan and supplies

"We are working on getting... the harm reduction vending machine. So, Linn County has them... And we will have one machine very similar, and we'll have Narcan in it," Griffin said, describing plans to include bone care kits, sharps containers and small hygiene items funded in part by local grants.
Why it matters: Vending-machine models can expand 24/7 access to overdose-reversal medication and supplies, reaching people when other distribution channels may be closed.
Griffin said the county visited Linn County to examine an installed machine and sought small local grants to support hygiene items such as mini deodorants and toothpaste. The goal is to have the machine operational in December.
