The board also approved a proclamation recognizing National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12–18, 2026). Angela Clausen, director of the combined regional dispatch center, read the proclamation and introduced Gary, a telecommunicator in training.
The board voted to issue a fermented malt beverage special-event permit to the Canyon City Rodeo Association for events on May 1–2. Applicant Andy Phillips described the event as fenced with wristbands, TIPS-certified sellers and sheriff’s office support; he told commissioners they plan vendors and that wristbands will separate beer access from general admission.
Licenses for secure transportation services were approved: Secure Transit LLC received a class B license and a type 2 vehicle permit for a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan; MedRoute Connect LLC received a class A license and a type 1 permit for a 2020 Chevy Silverado; and Goodkind Transportation Services LLC had its annual renewal approved for a 2018 Ford Explorer vehicle permit. The board recorded license terms and vehicle details in the public record.
Finally, the board appointed Miles DeYoung of Florence to the Fremont County Airport Advisory Board for a term from 04/14/2026 to 10/01/2027; commissioners noted recent FAA grant-supported airport improvements and growing activity at the facility.
Each of these items passed by voice or roll call; no additional conditions were attached beyond standard permit and licensing requirements.
