Central Community College to name new Hastings automotive building the “Gosper Building”

Christopher Waddle, president of Central Community College’s Hastings Campus, updated the Gosper County Board of Commissioners on April 8 about a new Automotive Technology building under construction on the Hastings campus. He said Gosper County was one of the original 17 counties to vote in favor of establishing Central Community College and that the original Gosper Building (used previously for diesel and heavy equipment programs) was removed in 2009.
Waddle said the new facility is being built on the same site and will be named the "Gosper Building" in honor of the county; he invited the board to a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Sept. 11, 2026. Commissioners expressed appreciation for the honor of having the building named after Gosper County.
The minutes do not include construction cost, funding sources for the new building, or a detailed timeline beyond the invitation to the ribbon cutting.
