Cherokee County TDA approves $5,000 for veterans event, maintains Chamber partnership allocations

Sandra Daley, serving as chair for the meeting, called the session to order at the Murphy Visitor Center and led a moment of silence and the pledge of allegiance. The board first approved the meeting agenda after a motion by Cal Stiles, seconded by Hank Parker Jr., and then approved the minutes from the Oct. 13 meeting on a motion by Hank Parker Jr., seconded by Joan Posey Neumann; both procedural motions passed unanimously.
On new business, Cal Stiles moved that the TDA continue its current budgeted allocations for the Chamber Tourism Partnership while negotiations proceed on a merger between the Andrews and Cherokee County chambers; that motion was recorded as approved. The minutes state the board chose to maintain existing funding commitments during the negotiation period rather than alter allocations at this time.
The board also considered an operational funding request from the Valley River Arts Guild. "Motion was made by Hank Parker Jr to pass on funding request for operational expenses for the Valley River Arts Guild, seconded by Sandra Daley, and unanimously approved," the minutes state; the board therefore declined that request.
