On Feb. 19 the Lucas City Council approved several infrastructure items: a change order for the Osage Lift Station project, a contract authorization for asphalt crack sealing and a funding authorization for Aztec Trail road improvements.
For the Osage Lift Station, staff reported contractors uncovered deteriorated vaults and piping that must be addressed to allow the pumps and station to operate. Council authorized a contract modification not to exceed $84,358 and appropriated $42,920 from unrestricted water fund reserves to replenish the project's contingency; staff said the repairs do not change the station’s expected in‑service timeline.
Council also authorized the city manager to negotiate and enter an agreement with Curtco Incorporated for asphalt crack sealing throughout the city, not to exceed $100,000, from the improvement roads account. Staff said the work preserves value on recently paved roads and will be coordinated with the road overlay program.
Finally, the council approved dedicating funds for Aztec Trail road improvements, not to exceed $275,966. Council and staff discussed funding sources (use of road maintenance fund vs. general fund reserves) and agreed staff should reconcile the decision with pavement‑condition data (NEXCO) and adjust funds later if needed.
All three authorizations carried with council approval (motions seconded and passed), and staff will return with implementation details and contractor scopes as the work advances.
