He said the city received six bids ranging from about $274,000 up to roughly $750,000, and that the low bid from Texas Materials Group offers cost savings compared with the city’s expectations. “This year for 2026, we're looking at portions of Johns Road, Old San Antonio Road, and West San Antonio Avenue,” Jeff said.
City staff noted the capital outlay street reconstruction budget contains $542,000 for this work; the council approved a not-to-exceed figure that accommodates a 25% contract increase allowed under state law and reserves contingency authority. The motion to accept the low bid and authorize contract execution passed unanimously.
The resolution authorizes staff to proceed with contract execution and to direct work under the city’s construction management practices.
