DACC unveils 100,000 sq ft expansion; district staff say project is self-funded and will add programs

"These 4 words guide every decision: empower, prepare, inspire, connect," the presenter said, describing design pillars that emphasize safety, futureproofing and multiuse space. The project will create flexible learning labs, a standalone adult-education suite separated from high-school spaces, an indoor track, expanded cosmetology facilities sized for up to 50 stations, a conversion of an equine science program to a vet-technology pathway, and new health-care simulation space.
The presenter (Jay) described phased capacity: near-term ability to serve roughly 200 additional students through expanded programming and a long-term buildout capacity for about 400 additional students. The board noted program expansion includes an electrical trades program targeted to launch in 2027.
On funding, a board member said the work is being paid from DACCs accounts and did not require a tax increase. "Its all funded by moneys that were in DACCs account. They didn't have to go to the taxpayers for new money for this," the board member said.
The meeting record shows a groundbreaking scheduled for the day after the meeting and a projected opening in the fall (as stated in the presentation); the administration agreed to post floor plans and renderings to the board agenda or social channels for public review.
