Lamar County board hears FY26 budget, unanimously approves Berkley insurance and Chartwells renewal

The Lamar County Board of Education met June 9 in Purvis and received a presentation of the proposed FY26 budget from Chase Voss. After the presentation the board opened the floor to public questions; none were raised.
On a motion by Jeremy Chance and seconded by Shae Farmer, the board voted unanimously to select Berkley as the district’s insurance provider for the 2025–26 year. The vote was 5–0 in favor. The board later voted, on a motion by Jordan Carlisle seconded by Jeremy Chance, to renew the Chartwells food-service contract for the 2025–26 school year; that motion also passed unanimously.
The board approved routine items including minutes and the April monthly financial report. The meeting packet included the district’s FY26 budget materials; no formal vote on the budget itself was recorded during the public meeting.
The board set its 2025–26 meeting schedule and noted that all meetings will be live streamed. The next regular meeting was set for July 15, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lamar County School District boardroom.
