Summary
Superintendent Beaumont reported the district has about 30 student days remaining before May 29 graduation, outlined spring testing dates, and said a Ready to Learn grant (referenced around 1.3—1.35) will fund MTSS supports and two new positions.
Superintendent Beaumont told the board the district was on day 151 of the school year and had roughly 30 student days remaining before high school graduation on May 29. He walked the board through the spring assessment calendar, including PSSA English-language arts testing in April, math on April 29 and science on April 30—1 and Keystone testing dates in mid-May.
Beaumont said the district received a Ready to Learn grant that he described in the meeting as approximately "1.3, I think it was 1.35," and said those funds would support expanded MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) services such as additional school psychology support, credit recovery, and co-teaching in higher grades. "So these are the supports that we came up with after working with the steering committee," he said.
Beaumont also described two new positions embedded in the budget: an MTSS specialist/coordinator for K—6 and an online teacher for grades 7—2 and rapid-recovery support. He said exact salary treatment will depend on internal hires; if an existing teacher fills a role, they would remain at their current salary.
Board members asked procedural questions about salary discussions and budget placement; Beaumont said the positions were included in the budget and many of the Ready to Learn activities would be covered by the grant.
If approved at the next meeting, the MTSS positions and related job descriptions will be implemented as part of the district's annual staffing plan.
