Troy Area SD opens two sealed lawn-care bids; award to be decided next meeting

The Troy Area School District board opened two sealed bids for district lawn care and landscaping, the chair announced, and said administrators will review the proposals before the board votes at its next meeting.

The chair read detailed pricing from both bids for multiple sites — including the district administrative building, WR Chroman Primary School, Detroit Junior-Senior High School, the Troy Memorial Auditorium, Detroit Intermediate School, and athletic fields — and confirmed both offers were for three-year contracts. "We're gonna open them up in no particular order," the chair said as the documents were read aloud.

One bid, listed under "Levi's Lawn and Landscaping," provided per-instance prices that varied by site and by year (examples read aloud included a per-instance $35 figure and multi-year subtotals such as $2,062). The second bid, from Bob's Lawn Care and Landscaping (with J & B Driveway Repair listed), offered different per-instance rates and said all lawns would be done weekly on weekends for safety; it also listed lower hourly equipment and labor rates and a smaller materials markup.

District staff will review both proposals and return recommendations to the board. The chair said the board will consider the award at the next regular meeting, roughly four weeks away.
