Montgomery County approves FY2024 Rebuild Alabama report showing $3.55 million in road work

Montgomery County’s commission on Jan. 7 unanimously approved the FY2024 Rebuild Alabama Annual Report, which documents how the county spent state Rebuild Alabama funds during the 2024 fiscal year.

County Engineer George Speake presented the report and recommended it be entered into the minutes and posted on the county website as required by Section 11(e) of Act No. 2019-2 (the Rebuild Alabama Act). The packet shows a beginning balance and receipts for the Rebuild funds and lists project-level spending.

The report records total Rebuild Alabama funds expended during FY2024 of $3,549,258.88, with examples of funded road projects and expenditures in the packet including:

• Meriwether Trail — Resurface and traffic stripe — $1,218,011.00 (listed as CRAF) • Hayneville Ridge — Resurface and traffic stripe — $632,443.07 (FAEF) • Hillabee Road, Windham Road, Moore Road and others with recorded expenditures and 100% compliance notes in the packet

The packet also notes that Lawson Road was rescheduled to FY2026 as part of Montgomery County’s CRAF projects. The report states that expenditures were made in compliance with Section 7c(2)(d) of the Rebuild Alabama Act (packet records 100% compliance).

The commission approved the presentation and the formal entry of the report into the county minutes; county staff will post the report and maintain supporting documents as required by statute.

The presentation and approval were recorded under a motion by Commissioner Castanza and second by Commissioner Sankey; the vote was recorded as carried unanimously.
