Greeley County approves multiple emergency road repair reimbursements and accepts low bridge bid
Summary
Over several meetings in spring and summer 2020 the county approved multiple Emergency Relief Program resolutions to submit road repair reimbursements to NDOT, adopted the 1 & 6 year road plan and accepted low bids for three bridge structures from ACE/EATON Metals.
Greeley County commissioners approved a series of highway emergency repair resolutions and moved forward on bridge replacement bidding during 2020.
Highway Superintendent Lance Harter presented Emergency Relief Program requests at meetings in January, March and late spring; the board approved multiple resolutions submitting claims for reimbursement from the Nebraska Department of Transportation, including site-specific amounts (examples: Res. 2020‑1 L39‑01 $9,907.32; Res. 2020‑2 L39‑02 $59,246.04; Res. 2020‑3 L39‑03 $26,718.16; subsequent L39-series approvals in March and April totaled additional reimbursements). The board also held a public hearing and adopted the county’s 1 & 6 Year Road Improvement Plan for 2020 (Resolution 2020‑9).
On June 23 the board opened sealed bids for three bridge structures (C003900320, C003901315, C003920405). ACE/EATON Metals submitted the low combined bid and the board accepted that low bid for the projects.
Why it matters: Emergency repairs and bridge replacements involve county capital spending, federal/state reimbursement eligibility and the condition of key transportation routes used by residents, farms and local businesses. Adoption of the 1 & 6 Year Road Plan sets priorities for maintenance and project scheduling.
The board recorded roll-call votes for each resolution and formally authorized submission of reimbursement requests to NDOT and contract awards based on the received bids.
