During public comment, Heather LaCayo said her daughter, a sixth grader at De Anza Academy Technical Arts (DADA), benefited from the program's block schedule and cohort structure and urged the district not to "uncore" or otherwise dismantle it.
LaCayo told trustees she has spoken with teachers and district representatives and suggested the district could use CALPADS course code 1000 to classify currently integrated block courses (math, science, language arts, social studies) and thereby address the cited Ed Code compliance concern. She said she emailed the board and asked that the issue be agendized for the next meeting.
Board members acknowledged the comment and staff said they would follow up on the request to agendize discussion.
