County Manager Wooten told the board that McDowell County received a $580,000 recycling-infrastructure grant from the state for communities impacted by Hurricane Helena. The grant will fund roll-off compactors at convenience sites and a roll-off truck.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved accepting the grant and authorizing the manager to sign any required documents for receipt and implementation. Commissioners asked staff to confirm whether cameras are installed at convenience sites to deter after-hours dumping; staff indicated cameras had been discussed and would be checked.
