During the March 17 meeting Supervisor Lance Lange said he had met with Brenda Fry of the South Central Iowa Community Action Program (SCICAP) about a request for funding to support a "beds for children" project.
Lange told the board that Moore indicated willingness to pledge support if the money could come from opioid settlement funds. Supervisor Todd Wilson, who serves on the county opioid committee, said he would research whether opioid settlement funds could be used for the project. Lange moved to table the request until the board's April 14 meeting; the motion was seconded by Chair Chris Moore and recorded in the minutes.
The board took no further action on funding at the March 17 meeting. The item will return to the agenda on April 14 with any additional information Wilson and staff can provide about potential funding sources, including opioid settlement dollars.
