The council recognized three community observances April 14 during a series of short staff presentations and proclamations.
Mayor Carley read a proclamation recognizing BioVille 2026 and Vacaville's efforts to grow its biomanufacturing cluster in partnership with Solano College and the California Biomanufacturing Center.
For Fair Housing Month staff announced a free Fair Housing workshop on April 16 at 10 a.m. at the 3 Oaks Community Center, partnering with Legal Services of Northern California and Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California, and described a poster contest for students (April 1—April 25) to raise awareness about fair housing rights and responsibilities.
The mayor also proclaimed Dispatcher Week, thanking communications staff and public-safety telecommunicators for their role as a first contact in emergencies; Melissa Costigan, communications manager in the police department, accepted recognition on behalf of dispatch staff.
Each proclamation included remarks from staff and partners summarizing the events and how residents can participate or get more information via the city website.
