The Brookings-Harbor SD 17C board voted unanimously on April 15 to adopt a resolution transferring appropriations in the 2025–26 budget to move funds into the district's facilities and construction account.
Staff explained the transfer corrects how a roofing, HVAC and related shelter project had been coded in the budget. A staff member involved in coding told the board that the amount should be recorded under facilities acquisition and construction (function 4000) rather than under maintenance/support services (function 2000). "That should be 102,000 support services because it's under maintenance," the staff member said while explaining the correct coding and noting the resolution text should reflect the facilities line item.
The recommended motion directed the board to "adopt the following resolution to transfer appropriations in 20 25, 20 26 from fund 100, function 2000, support services, to fund 100, function 4000, facilities acquisition and construction." The motion was moved and seconded and the chair called for the question; a roll-call-style series of 'aye' responses followed and the resolution passed.
Board discussion clarified this was a reclassification of budget codes rather than an additional appropriation request. Staff also noted the district expects additional state revenue (discussed as SRS in arrears in the meeting) to arrive after the budget adoption; staff said those funds would be allocated to the same budget category when received.
The board approved the transfer and staff will update appropriation coding to reflect the facilities classification so work on roofing and HVAC can be tracked in the appropriate fund and function.
